Unless stated otherwise, all groups
should be assembled at the start point by 0900, and launched
by 0915 at the latest. Depending on the length of the ride,
car poolers should have their boats set up and ready to leave
the launch area a half-hour to a full hour before the launch
time - call the Trip Leader to find out.
The Trip Leader has final say as to whether any individual paddler may join the group, based on the Leader's assessment of that individual's skill, equipment and/or preparation, in light of the ocean conditions of the day.

Blue Pool Service Project (formerly Keehi Lagoon Surfing & Cleanup) - Meet at "Alan's Ramp" at 10:00 AM (Surfers may want to start at 8:00) and paddle out to Kahaka'aulana Island (Blue Pool) to finish the clean-up someone else started last month. Bring trash bags and gloves, a picnic lunch if you wish, and perhaps your own beach chair. Pruning saws and clippers will also be appreciated. Reef shoes or tennies are definitely recommended - plenny keave thorns on the island. We will return to chill at the beach park afterwards, if there's no crowd. SD protocols remain in effect, as much as we are able while doing this, so bring a mask as well. - 1 Mi. R.T. | [6/D1] |

'Tracks' to Ko Olina & Back. Meet at 8:00. Launch at 8:30. This short roundtrip features snorkeling stops at the Kahe Power plant outflow and the reefs outside of Ko Olina. The warm water from the power plant discharge pipe attract a variety of marine life including honu, rays and spinner dolphins. This area is normally crowded with tour boats and dive groups so take advantage of this quarantine opportunity to snorkel there with lots of flipper room. Continuing along the Ko Olina coast you can hop in at your leisure for more snorkeling around large coral heads or sneak into some of the lagoons, surf permitting. The turnaround point will be the Kalaeloa Harbor entrance. Bring a bow line to tie up your kayak while snorkeling and an anchor if you have one. You must be comfortable launching and landing from a steep sandy beach through a mild shore break. You must also be able to do a deep water reentry into your kayak. We will be launching at the south end of Tracks beach (unofficially labeled "Hawaiian Electric Beach Park" on Google Maps). See where to park on the map. |

Fourth of July - Meet 6:00 PM at Ala Wai Community Park Clubhouse (corner of Kapiolani Blvd & McCully St) - Launch at 6:30. (Show starts at 8:30, but ocean access may be blocked after about 7:30) It is not recommended to go beyond the main breakwater, there is an easy place to land on the inside, and there may be room to sit on top of the wall. Bring snacks and drinks, and some way to illuminate your boat for the paddle back. (White is a good color for this, or light blue Cayalume lightsticks. Please, no red or green lights, as they confuse the other boaters.) - 2 mi. RT |

Paddle ratings are for average weather and ocean conditions, and are unscientifically assigned and often arbitrary. It is up to each individual to assess the conditions prior to the time of launch in the light of their own experience and ability, and decide whether to go or not. If you decide to go, you must sign the trip roster and read the waiver. No signee, no kayakee. In the event of a Small Craft Advisory (SCA) or higher wind warning*, the Club-sponsored paddle is officially cancelled. Trip leaders should download a copy of the release/waiver by clicking here for a PDF file you can print.
*As broadcast by Radio WBA on UHF weather channels 1 or 2, or announced the night before on commercial television.
"Steerage Board" meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every second month, except where otherwise noted, at the location given in the schedule. These meetings are for the Officers and Advisory Board members to discuss business and decide future activities for the Club, and they are open to any Club member in good standing who has a Club-related issue to be dealt with outside the forum of the General Meetings. Talk to any Club Officer for details, an agenda, or location directions.
